Finding that perfect balance in order to find inner peace… or in my case, sanity.
Ever catch yourself being a big ball of negative energy? You know, when you’re just having one of those days that’s just so… blah.
Well, today was that day for me. I was waiting on a furniture guy to come around at 11am to pick up furniture that I wanted reupholstered and well, to make a long story short, he arrived 3 hours late. 3 hours! So there I was, siting… waiting, waiting… and waiting some more. I kept looking at the clock thinking, “Where is this guy?” I had errands to run and appointments to go to, and him being late was beyond inconvenient. After he finally turned up, I then raced over to the Canggu Writers (holla!) event. On my way there, I found myself cursing people out in my head.
“Stupid idiot! Learn how to drive!”
“Use your blinkers, dimwit!”
“Get back on your lane, f*cker!”
“Wait for your turn, a*shole!”
I was CLEARLY in a negative state of mind. Everything and everyone was just getting to me. This was NOT the headspace I wanted to be in. I quickly caught on to it and thought, boy, you can take the girl out of the city, but you can’t take the city out of the girl. I was so focused on the fact that my schedule had been ruined because of one incident that I forgot one simple thing — this is Bali! A paradise island where everyone is super chill and laid back and everything is done in “Bali time”.
But is it really that simple? What if “Bali time” gets in the way of professionalism and productivity? Is it just something you accept because you CHOSE to live here? Because it’s part of their culture?
The answer, is neither yes or no.
At the end of the day, it’s all about finding the perfect BALANCE. Of knowing when to let things slide and when to actually give a damn.
And on that note… here’s to having a good rest of the day. Happy Sunday, y’all! Cheers!
