Packing. Love it, hate it… you decide.
Before going on any trip, it’s obvious that step 1 is to pack everything you’re going to need on this little getaway of yours. Now while some people actually enjoy packing and find zen and peace while doing so, just like they do when they wrap Christmas gifts (which I still totally don’t get), others, absolutely hate it and would rather not have anything to do with it!
So for those of you out there who are like me and absolutely dread packing, here are some tips to help make it a little easier to bear, and help you to not forget stuff.
Make a checklist.
Think about how many days you’ll actually be on this trip and make sure you have 1 complete outfit per day. If you’re going out at night, make it 2.
*Remember, don’t forget your pajamas or your toothbrush!
*Include everything on that list such as passport, ticket, toiletries, makeup, curling, iron, etc.
*Check things off on your list as you go to make things go faster and smoother.
Think multi-purpose.
– For people who may need to sleep in airports or don’t get pillows on board budget airlines, having a sweater or a jacket helps because they make great pillows.
– T-shirts and singlets double as sleeping shirts and can also be used as beach cover-ups.
– Reversible bikinis will not only make you look like you brought more than 1 bikini, but it can also serve as bras and underwear! In case you ever run out… which I hope you don’t. But just in case you do, bikinis are your best friend.
Lay them all out on your bed.
Seeing all of the things you need laid out on your bed will not only help you make sure you don’t forget anything, but will also help you see if you’re packing too much.
Roll & Pack.
After laying everything out on your bed, make sure to roll your clothes (I swear by this) and pack them nice and snug. Rolling clothes take less space in your suitcase and is the most efficient way of packing.
*Now this is totally optional, but if you’re OCD when it comes to packing, or if you’re backpacking flashpacking and want to stuff your bag silly while still being neat, you’re going to want to ziplock and vacuum seal those bad boys. Having your clothes in little see-through bags will also help you pick out the items of clothing you want to wear without having to rummage through your entire bag — no mess!
Weigh it!
Stay within your kg limit. No one is a fan of unpacking, redistributing and repacking at the airport. Avoid this at all costs!!
There you have it! All sorted and ready to go. Bon Voyage!
